Green cloth-covered boards with gilt titles, Rip van Winkle illustration in gilt on front. All illustrations present: each of the plates has its own captioned tissue guard, some of which show some light yellowing and a few tiny spots of foxing, however the illustrations themselves remain clean and bright. Sporadic foxing also to the text pages and half-title, and bookplate removal damage to front free endpaper in the form of two roughly 3/4" spots of adhesive with paper remnants attached and one roughly 3/4" abraded area. The binding remains firm and all pages secure, however from the exterior it is quite worn: cloth is splitting along edges of spine, and the top two inches of the spine torn down either side, with a strip of tape holding it in place; light chipping to spine ends, and corners bumped and worn to boards just at tips; lighter bumping and rubbing along board edges; some insect damage and light rubbing to covers and edges; slight sunning to spine. ; 51 Tipped-in Color Plates; 4to; 57+plates pages
