Bronte, Charlotte JANE EYRE-Two volumes (limited edition) New York Thomas Y. Crowell 1890 Hardcover VG/G 347 & 313pp. Quarter-leather and green cloth. TEG. Ribbon markers. Illustrated. Reprinted from the second edition of 1847. Limited to 250 copies of which this is number 153. In the rare original cloth dust jackets and slipcase. There is some dampstaining along the spines of the books and dust jackets. On the spine ends of the books it is somewhat darkened and there is some slight rubbing or wear to the leather. Along the cloth/leather edge of the rear cover of volume one there are remnants of the interior of the jacket where it stuck to the cloth. This is quite narrow but does run along the length of the spine. The jacket flaps have discolored the endpapers of each volume. Each volume is very tight. The jackets are a maroon color and this is much lighter at the spines due to the dampness and somewhat also to age. The slipcase is stamped in gilt, "Jane Eyre--Bronte" on the top panel. It is bound in matching maroon cloth with a paper back. It is very solid but quite worn at the opening and there are various stains, a couple of drips down one side and the paper back, fading along the top and edges. It is splitting along about 1 1/2" of one of the upper seams. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall
