262 pp. including appendices, extensive bibliography, and index. Date on title page. Unfortunately an ex-university library copy and rebound in reinforced green buckram. There are small perforated library stamps to a few pages, including title page. A pocket has been removed from rear pastedown and remnants of check-out slip to rear free endpaper. Library bookplate to front pastedown with "Withdrawn" stamp. Three pages, each with a few words underlined in ink. Pages 2-3 have some minor ink stains to the lower, outside edge margins. Label removed from lower spine cloth.; A scarce work on the science of genetics. Morgan won the Nobel Prize in Physiology/Medicine in 1933 for his discoveries concerning the role played by the chromosome in heredity. Morgan's student, Alfred Sturtevant, developed the first genetic map in 1913. Muller, another student of Morgan, won a 1946 Nobel Prize for the study of the hereditary effect of x-rays on genes.; 8vo
